If you want to know the easiest, most convenient way to visit Tinsel Town, take the rail!

Last weekend, Shelby and I took the Amtrak from San Diego to Los Angeles with a few friends and we had a ball! We boarded the Coaster from Solana Beach and rode all the way to San Clemente right along the beach. The ride was very smooth and so were the cocktails for happy hour. (We found 2 for 1 discounts on a website called www.ExploreOxnard.com...tickets were only $11.50 each)

As the sun set, we saw whales right off the beach near Oceanside.
As a long-time surfer, I have seen many dolphins in the surfline but never whales! I knew this trip would be special.

We passed miles and miles of parked cars on the freeways along the way. (Apparently, a giant crane had collapsed across the lanes of the 405 backing up traffic for hours! Thank God we didn't drive!)

We arrived at Union Station in L.A. where we boarded the Metro subway to Hollywood and Highland (a whopping $1.25 each!) and from there, a short cab ride to all the famous clubs.

We had so much fun, we decided to stay an extra night at the Hollywood Hyatt right on Sunset Blvd.

If you ever get the chance, make sure you take your honey on the Hollywood night life getaway. Makes a great Valentine's Day date, right?
